Run It Back
Limited to 25 editions worldwide.
Inspired by Gordon Parks' photograph of a woman drinking from a "Colored Only" water fountain, Run It Back is the first piece in an ongoing series that revisits historical Black photographs through present-day reflections.
The title is a play on words. "Run it back" means to go back and look again. To revisit the past, and an ode to my on-going joke "bring back segregation."
As conversations around Black history continue to be removed, I think it is important we tell our own stories.
Each piece pairs a historical image with my personal reflections, opinions, current events, and history lessons, creating a bridge between past and present so that future generations can still hear us, see us, and feel what this moment in history meant.
This work is deeply personal. It is part historical recollection and part diary entry.
Because of the intimate nature of this piece, this release has been intentionally limited.
